The workplace environment impacts employee morale, productivity and engagement - both positively and negatively. The purpose of this thesis was to investigate on the impact of working environment towards realization of organization objectives a case study of Mwanza City council. In order to understand the study aim, four goals were developed and these are following. i. ii. iii. iv. To assess how working condition affect employee’s performance to understand relationship between the poor working condition and their work performance. To assess how poor treatment of employees affecting the employee’s performance. To suggest the measures to improve the working conditions for better employees’ performance. A qualitative and quantitative research approach of the data collection was adopted using a questionnaire comprising of 12 questions distributed to 30 respondents. Based on this sample the results obtained indicate that it is the quality of the employee’s workplace environment that most impacts on their level of motivation and subsequent performance. How well they engage with the organization, especially with their immediate environment, influences to a great extent their error rate, level of innovation and collaboration with other employees, absenteeism and ultimately, how long they stay in the job. Creating a work environment in which employees are productive is essential to increased profits for your organization, corporation or small business.
