This study was about community participation in managing secondary schools academic performance. The study was carried out at Kilosa District council. The researcher employed three objectives which were, to examine the extent of community in Secondary Schools academic performance, the second objective was to find out the approach of community participation towards managing Schools academic performance, and the third objective was to explore the factors which limit effective community participation in decision making and administration of Schools academic performance. A case study design was adopted whereas a sample of one hundred and forty three (156) respondents was selected through simple random sampling and purposive sampling. Questionnaires, interview and documentary review were employed for data collection. Quantitative data were analyses through SPSS programme version 20, then data were presented in table, frequency and percentage, while qualitative data were analysed through content analysis. The findings of the study reveal that community participation enabled parents and teachers to get involved and assist students to study hard through their efforts this led to increase academic performance in Secondary Schools. Also, community participation resulted for parents to organize themselves and contribute money and pay temporally teachers of science subjects due to scarcity of those teachers, this led to the increase of performance for science subjects. Meanwhile, the study reveal that, the approaches used by parents to participate in School development was through meetings, cost sharing, this encouraged them to discuss together and work as a team for their children achievements whereas they contributed money for laboratories constructions, classrooms as well as teachers for accommodation, all these contributed to the performance of students in terms of academic. The researcher also discovered some challenges that hinder effective participation such as: political interference, low level of education, poverty and top down decision. The researcher concluded that, employed community participation is pivotal to create harmonious academic performance through involvement of community members which led to the achievement in terms of academic performance to the students.
